OVERALL SUMMARY
This role is responsible for supporting the overall fleets vessel performance, efficiency, and optimization for the company’s owned fleet of vessels including ships on time charter.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Monitor and analyse performance data of vessels as subject-matter expert.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring KPIs for energy efficiency / optimization.
  • Assist in fleet’s compliance with the Emission regulatory directives.
  • Assist in data collection, verification, submission of IMO DCS, EU MRV and other declarations to flag and port states.
  • Support the periodic (monthly, quarterly etc) fleet performance reporting and ad-hoc case studies for management or customers.
  • Assist in the implementation of company objectives of fuel efficiency, vessel performance monitoring, CO2 reduction, monetize.
  • Assist in techno-economic evaluation of new green technologies and retrofitting projects implemented on fleet ships.
  • Assist in the implementation of systems for daily monitoring of noon reports and identify poor performers & liaise with Fleet managers for corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with technology providers for performance services or investigations, i.e., hull condition analysis, voyage optimization solutions.
  • Maintain internal records and assist on establishing and reinforcing internal process that aim to improve vessel performance management.

QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Engineering, with strong understanding of shipping.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in similar field and/or experience with software/service provider.
  • Project management skills and software engineering literacy.
  • Familiar with international shipping Regulations, especially about GHG emissions and energy efficiency.
  • Operating knowledge of various Performance or Analytics software platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills (with research-oriented approach) and the ability to translate data into useful analytics.
  • Critical thinking and drive to explore an emerging field that involves.
  • Committed and responsible in meeting deadlines with excellent time management skills

Junior Legal Counsel (Treasury)

OVERALL SUMMARY

The Junior Legal Counsel will be a member of the Treasury team and provide legal support to Eastern Pacific Shipping and its associated entities. The Junior Legal Counsel will work closely with the Finance Legal Counsel to support the in-house legal and treasury function on all legal, finance and treasury-related matters.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Reviewing, drafting and/or negotiating documents related to ship finance transactions and other finance or treasury related matters, including term sheets, loan and security documents, swap documents and corporate authorities.
  • Assisting on all matters related to vessel sales and purchases, new financings, loan drawdowns; including preparing mortgage release documents for vessel sales; and managing pre-delivery drawdowns and vessel deliveries.
  • Liaising with internal offices and departments in relation to vessel documentation, insurances, compliance matters and corporate secretarial matters; including preparing know-your-customer (KYC) documentation and corporate authorities and approvals.
  • Corresponding with external law firms, bankers, ship registries and other third parties.
  • Maintaining and updating legal files and documentation.
  • Transaction management, including preparing and monitoring conditions precedent; obtaining approvals for transactions fees and expenses and arranging invoice payments; closely monitoring deadlines and key events.

QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Formal legal qualification at University Degree level.
  • Qualification as a practicing lawyer in England & Wales, Singapore or another common law jurisdiction is preferable.
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ prior legal experience either in the legal department of an international business or in a professional law firm is preferred.
  • Experience in either shipping and/or finance preferred, but not essential.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a team and demonstrate a self-starting attitude and a high-level of independent thought.
  • Be able to quickly form strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues and contacts.
  • Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of personal motivation and the desire to develop within the role and take on additional responsibility.

OVERALL SUMMARY

  • This function is to assist the Manager in all activities concerning on recruitment, screening and shortlisting of crew application forms received from manning office. Verify past history and do back ground screen check. Clarify with Manning office on license certificate status and any major medical issues.
  • Crew requirement need to be reviewed frequently and any requirement need to be updated to Manager / Manning Office.
  • Timely response to Manning Office / Manager on recruitment requirements, monthly basis. Eligible candidates fix appointment with respective person for Skype interviews.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Plan, administer and monitor Ship Staff rotation, pooling and team migration to achieve efficient manpower deployment and utilization.
  • Assist to communicate & educate our appointed manning office worldwide the importance to comply with Company’s procedures, zero tolerance policy (no license, no joining) on human resource management and the need that all officers and crew employed are to be suitably qualified, experienced and certified as per STCW 95 requirement.
  • Maintain an effective documentation system of all new hires and rejoinders, including qualification / certification, experience for reference, planning and audit purpose.
  • Assist to review crew evaluations from vessels and highlight exceptions to Assistant Manager, Manager and the Management.
  • Attend to all ship staff queries related to human resource issues without delay by promptly replying to each sender, deemed as our internal customer.
  • Assist in ensuing ITF renewals and accuracy in the documentation.
  • Ensure that vessels are meeting the MLC requirements and any compliance to be highlighted to Manager.
  • Conduct briefings for Masters / Chief Engineers joining vessel. Plan and arrange for them to be briefed by relevant departments without unnecessary delays as time is essence.
  • Plan and organize office training for eligible candidates for Master and Chief Engineer rank, including arrival formalities, accommodation arrangements, and proper record keeping.
  • Manpower planning
    • Compile and analyze manpower’s statistics and competencies to meet current fleet staffing requirements and potential manpower needs as a result of fleet expansion.
    • Assignment of ship-staff to be done basis compliance with stated company policies and procedures and with STCW requirements.
    • Formulate, implement and evaluate initiatives to continually recruit competent ship staff from various sources and recruitment channels
    • Review the recruitment flow and manning offices’ systems of operation for continual improvement to the process
  • Performance and Career Management
    • Assist to plan and manage the career and competencies development of our pool of ship staff to attain ‘Employer of choice’ reputation in the industry
    • Review evaluation reports received from the vessel and discuss average performers with Manager for next course of action.
    • Review and follow up on comments by Superintendents and Port Captains for follow up.
    • Apply the understanding of the implications of CBA in crew management and dealings with crew unions
  • Supervise, train and guide Executives / Senior Executives to perform their Marine HR duties and responsibilities effectively.
    • Conduct training needs analysis (TNA) and on-the-job training (OJT) to equip Executives / Senior Executives with the skills and knowledge to perform the task
    • Guide, supervise and assist them in the function
    • Review, update and maintain the on-the-job training (OJT) plan to ensure its currency to existing practices and procedures
  • Administer, review and enforce the ISO procedures and requirements for Marine HR processes
  • Follow up on NCRs and other ISO documentation & procedural requirements pertaining to Marine HR activities.

QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Min Diploma (for local employees)
  • At least 1-2 years experience with crew related matters onboard ships or ashore
  • Sailing experience with TPM preferred
  • Basic IT knowledge, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Email
  • Good communication skills – spoken and written English
  • Good appreciation and dealing of cultural diversity

OVERALL SUMMARY

Support the SQV Function by:

  • Monitoring the effective implementation of Company’s Quality Management Systems.
  • Developing Systems in accordance with relevant industry standards, best practices thereby boosting customer confidence in our systems to prevent pollution and ensuring safety during the voyage of persons and cargo.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Plan, schedule and conduct shipboard internal audits; review and follow-up on the audit findings.
  • Plan and schedule external shipboard audits; review and follow-up on the audit findings, address the Corrective Action Request (CAR) raised during the audit with the auditor and ensure effective close out of the CAR.
  • Prepare Safety Bulletins; News Letters; Incident Reports to send as broadcast to fleet vessels.
  • Initiate Safety Campaigns and safety programs to improve/enhance the Safety Culture within the organization.
  • Conduct office internal audit; review and follow-up on the audit findings.
  • Participate in incident investigation. Review and analyse incident reports received from the vessel. Summarize the corrective measures identified and monitor for implementation and close out.
  • Monitor and respond to any queries from vessels.
  • Review vessels’ NCR and the associated corrective/preventive actions.
  • Respond with comments to the Monthly Safety committee meeting reports and Master’s review of the SMS.
  • Prepare SOPEP / Security plans for new-takeovers and submit to Class for approval.
  • Review hot work plans submitted by the vessel.
  • Conduct training for sea staff attached to department for shore training.
  • Conduct briefing for pre-joining Masters and Chief Engineers.
  • Plan, conduct and evaluate annual ship / shore drill.
  • Manage, coach and motivate department’s support staff to perform on the job.

QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Master Mariner or Marine Engineer (Class 1) with at least 2 years in rank or
  • 2 years of experience at middle management level in the QHSE department of a shipping company.
  • Tanker experience is mandatory when handling/assigned Tanker fleet.
  • Well versed with current Rules & Regulations
  • Auditing, Hazard analysis and incident investigation skills
  • Basic IT knowledge, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Email
  • Good communication skills – spoken and written English
